Unwind Part Two

Part Two

1. Question: How much brainwashing do you think has happened for teenagers to make this sort of claim as they’re being led to their "death"?

Answer: They know they are going to be sent to death, But it is for a good reason. As they have reached their full potential for life they are giving their body parts to people that can make a big difference for the world.

2. Question: Why, do you think, has Shusterman chosen to have three characters tell their story?

   2.  Answer: To show there background and show that people that live differently can still get unwinded

3. Question: Lev is a tithe. This means that he is the 10% that his family will give back to the church as an offering. What are your thoughts on this?

   3. Answer: It’s not good cause that one person good make good in this world and they are just giving him away how knows he could be the one to solve world hunger

4. Question: Risa is a state home kid - she was unwanted at birth, and now the state has decided she is no longer useful. Do you think that the state should ever be able to determine if one life is more useful than another?

No, I think they shouldn’t be able to decide that it’s not fair on the person they should make the choice if they want to be or not

What do you already know about pro-life and pro-choice groups? What do these terms mean? Is it an issue you have thought about?

-that babies that have been aborted have to live with people they didn’t even know, and them not knowing who their parents are?

2.What do you know about organ donation?

Organ donation is basically dying for people in icu and that need special care for them and organ donation is pretty much dying. And for kids that are unwound and are hunted for their body parts.

3.Teenagers to be unwound are sent to Harvest Camps. Can you make a connection between the language used to describe this place, and other places people have been sent historically? It’s a place for kids that have been aborted and kids that have been unwound and a place no kid would want to be.It’s like being slaves for elders they don’t even know.

5.The term "living in a divided state" here is really a euphemism for what? Can you think of other, common euphemisms? Why do people use euphemisms?embarrassed by others, harshed by other, etc

6.what is the definition of legal? legal is like its something that is allowed/the government has made something allowed, something you can do.

7.what ethical?it's basically relating to social,behavioural principles.

8.Do you believe that because something is legal, it is also ethical, or morally right?

I guess so but there are other rules about things that are legal.

9.Can things that are ethically sound ever be illegal? Maybe if something that is legal being out of control there will be boundaries.

10.Can you think of examples in history to support your ideas? Like something such as unwinding kids would be out of control/its legal but getting out of control because these kids are being wanted for their body parts.

How much brainwashing do you think has happened for teenagers to make this sort of claim as they’re being led to their "death"?- Quite a bit if they think they are being led to their death.

Why, do you think, has Shusterman chosen to have three characters tell their story?-So you know why they are either being unwound or to tell us about their life and what they have done to be unwinded

Lev is a tithe. This means that he is the 10% that his family will give back to the church as an offering. What are your thoughts on this?-My thoughts on this is i think its dumb because why should they have to give 10% to the church must not be a good church if they are give their child to them.

Rita is a state home kid - she was unwanted at birth, and now the state have decided she is no longer useful. Do you think that the state should ever be able to determine if one life is more useful than another?-No they should not be able to determine whether they are useful or not the people that should have the choice are their parents, not the state.

Connor's parents have chosen to unwind him due to his difficult behaviour. They have then booked a ticket to the Bahamas. In your opinion, how do parents view their children?-They view their children by the way they act or how good they do in school they don’t care if they are unfit or anything they just care if they are useful for the state.  Why do you think this?- I think this cause of what i’ve read so far in the book.

Pastor Dan presents as being conflicted. What reasons might he have to encourage Lev in his journey as a tithe?-So he doesn’t know and try to run away like conner and then all of this fuss happening. Why does he encourage him to run?-He encourages him to run because he doesn’t want him to end up dead.
